The Victoria Cross

        The Victoria Cross is the highest military decoration for valor for British and the Commonwealth ( Canada, Australia, New Zealand  etc)

    The importance of this medal is such that in the award ceremony a Private receiving a Victoria Cross will take precedence over anyone of any rank  receiving a lesser medal.  Tradition also dictates that officers, even of the highest rank must salute a Victoria Cross recipient .
